Social media is one tough nut to crack. It’s a world of personas, with very little genuity to go around, and it’s a platform that’s already inundated with adverts and marketing strategies. If you’re trying to break into the social media world, with a brand or a business of your own, at the very least, you’re going to come up against some very stern competition.

Which is why it’s important to know how your social media strategy is working out. It’s important to know where you’re succeeding, and where you’re failing, and to always be able to keep an eye on these numbers. And with a few of the tools and tips below, you’ll be able to do just that.

Know What You Want From Your Social Media Strategy

You came up with a social media strategy for a reason – think back on it now: what was that main, initial, and motivating reason? Was it to attract people to your page, to increase your traffic flow? Was it to collaborate with other businesses and entrepreneurs in your sector? Was it to achieve a few brand deals here and there? Because once you can define your reason for opening a social media account for your business, you can actually track whether your strategy is working or not.

So, bring all of the numbers up, and crunch them down a little more. If you want more traffic, how has your traffic flow fluctuated since you started? If you want more followers, at what rate have you grown since you opened up? If you’re looking to network, who have you gotten into contact with, and actually gotten a tangible result from? Simply put, take your strategy step by step.

Make Sure You’ve Got the Right Tech

The second thing to do, to keep an eye on how your numbers are doing, and whether your current strategy is starting to dip off, is to invest in the right technology to track your online presence. And seeing as there are quite a few different softwares (or even just browser extensions) out there, you’re going to need to be picky about what program you download.

Depending on the social media analytics tools you download, some can be scams, some can be less effective than they promise to be, and some can be the holy grail of internet tracking systems! Read the reviews, get to know the website you found them at (if you like the information they post on their company blog, they might just be worth a subscribe!), and make sure you’re comfortable with what you’re installing onto your computer.

How Did You Implement Your Social Media Strategy?

It’s important to ask yourself questions like these. So, what did you start with? How has your strategy changed since it started? What results have you been able to collect? The mark of a truly successful social media strategy is the outcome; if you can put the info you’ve collected to good use, you’ve bagged yourself a goodie!
