Why You Should Never Post Videos Without Captions

May 7, 2021 - 1 minute read - LinkedIn, Video Marketing

85% of people watch videos on social media without sound. (Source: Hootsuite)

Are you one of them?

I am.

In this clip, I mention FB specifically, but it’s happening everywhere: LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, blogs.

If you are creating videos and you actually want people to consume them, you need to add subtitles.

Every social media network, including LinkedIn, allows you to easily add subtitles.

It doesn’t take long to do and makes a huge difference when it comes to people consuming your content.

If you are doing it yourself, there are plenty of tools to speed up the process.

My favorite and free tool – YouTube.

Upload any video to YouTube and use their automatic captioning tool 100% free.

There are also sites like Rev and Temi, although they aren’t 100% free.

Or you do it the old-school way like we do with manual transcription.

It doesn’t take long when you post 26-second videos like this.

If you’re creating videos, let me know how often you are adding subtitles?
